Early Signs of PregnancyBy Lori Ramsey of Stages-inPregnancy.com Early signs of pregnancy can began as soon as 5 days post ovulation. It doesn’t mean it will in every case, but the truth is you will not have a single pregnancy symptom until the fertilized egg implants into the uterine wall. It’s at that point that the body is alerted that you’ve conceived and thus begins the wonderful process called pregnancy.
Because the hormones hCG, estrogen and progesterone will increase during the pregnancy you will see major changes in the body throughout the nine months. It starts with the expanding uterus and abdominal muscles. Early on you will feel cramping as a result of this stretching and expanding. This cramping and pulling sensation is often one of the first signs of pregnancy. Breast changes are another first sign of pregnancy. Hormones immediately cause the breasts to start preparing for the ability to nourish a newborn baby. You may see darkening of the areolas and prominent deep blue veins in the breasts. An obvious sign of pregnancy, the missed menstrual cycle, is caused from the corpus luteum producing progesterone, which keeps the uterine lining intact for the growing fetus. After several weeks, the corpus luteum will die and the placenta will take over the production of progesterone. This is a list of the most common early pregnancy signs – and these signs are often noticed before the missed period:
It is possible to be pregnant and not experience a single symptom. Each pregnancy is different. I’ve been there five times and each one had different symptoms. My second pregnancy was symptom-less. The only reason I tested was my failure to experience the usual PMS!
