| The birth of her first grandchild was the inspiration for the
inventor of the "See Shell Baby Carrier". It seems the car seat baby
carrier that her son and daughter-in-law had purchased was too bulky
and heavy for the daughter-in-law to carry immediately after giving
birth to little Sailor Ashley.
So, Grandma A. searched high
and low for a lightweight, low-profile baby carrier like the baby
carrier she had used for her own children 30 years before - - but to no
avail!
After calling several baby
gear manufacturers, Grandma A. was told the lightweight baby carrier
she had enjoyed using had been discontinued in favor of car seat baby
carriers.
However, since the new car
seat baby carriers have to meet Federal safety standards associated
with use as a car seat baby carrier, they are designed with a bulky,
heavy frame and handle.
Grandma A. had a vision of a
new design for a lightweight, low-profile safe baby carrier with a
"seashell" motif. After completing some rough sketches, she contacted
an Ohio patent attorney and, upon completion of a thorough patent
search, Grandma A. was informed her "See Shell Baby Carrier" was indeed
patentable - - GOOD!!
Now, all that remained was
to locate a source who could manufacture both the soft, closed-cell
urethane foam interior and the hard ABS plastic exterior shell of the
See Shell Baby Carrier. This proved to be the most exhausting and
frustrating part of the "See Shell Baby Carrier's" genesis.
After
2 years of research and countless telephone calls, e-mails, and faxes,
a source was located and work began on designing and building the "See
Shell Baby Carrier".
